For six hours each day, students take life skills classes, workshops, and seminars, and receive mentoring. Enrolled teens, who may lack professional role models, benefit from seeing and experiencing how knowledge workers interact, think, work, and present themselves. The focus is on fostering vital competences in communication, conflict resolution, planning and problem solving. Aside from a very few paid positions, YO:Durham relies on volunteers for almost all our activities. We frequently need volunteers to perform administrative tasks, plan events, and raise funds, among other things.
