MENTOR TEAMS

Students will be matched with faith-based or community mentor teams.  All mentors will be provided training and on-going support.  A team of four adult mentors is matched with four YO: Durham students.  The time commitment for mentors is approximately four hours per month.

Mentor teams will:

·        Provide support and guidance ·        Discuss job related issues

·        Meet regularly with teens for career

       exploration and  social activities, e.g. visit

       local college campus, music events,

       lectures, sporting events

·        Provide safe environment for 

      dealing with personal issues

·        Review and encourage academic progress

·        Mature ·        Able to maintain conf idences
·        Energetic ·        Caring
·        Empathetic ·        Able to provide guidance
·        Good listener ·        Likes teens
